Winner of the Swedish Match Tour Year 2 Championship, Sweden's
own Magnus Holmberg is one of the most competitive sailors in the
match racing scene with a #1 world ranking. Holmberg is one of the
most persistent campaigners on the match racing scene, having been
dedicated to the circuit since 1991, when he made his debut at the
Bermuda Gold Cup.
Holmberg is responsible for introducing Swedish Match to the word
of international sailing. He first got them involved with the very
successful Swedish Match Cup in Marstrand, which is now the ninthand
final event on the Swedish Match Grand Prix Sailing Tour.
Holmberg represented Sweden three times at the Olympic Games, first
in 1984, sailing a 470 dinghy, then in the Solings keelboat at the
1992 Barcelona Games, and again in Savannah last time around.
He is married with two children, and lives in Gothenburg. |
