Pizza-la Red Lobster Nippon Cup 2004 International Match Race Sailing, the fourth event of the Swedish Match Tour, begins from November 16, 2004 off the shore of Hayama Marina, Kanagawa Pref., Japan.

It is our pleasure to have four teams from America's Cup 2007 contestants (among total six syndicates) are joining the Nippon Cup. They all are world top ranking sailors.

Among those experienced contestants there are Ed Baird (Team Musto) - ISAF Ranking #1, and Peter Gilmour (Pizza-la Sailing Team) - the former skipper of the Nippon Challenge who won the 8th Nippon Cup championship.

Gavin Brady is leading the BMW Oracle Racing who is one of the challenging syndicate in America's Cup 2007. He is with Chris Dickson, the Team Manager and crew, who is the he former champion of the Nippon Cup. This race is worth calling as "dreams come true".

Dean Barker is leading Emirates Team New Zealand and he is a very promising sailor succeeding Russel Coutts, the America's Cup Holder.

Team Shosholoza of South Africa has entered into the Nippon Cup for the first time with Skipper, Geoff Meek (age 51). Philippe Presti and Team Le Defi from France is known for their stylish hull of the sloop. Sven-Erik Horcsh from Germany is the first Challenge for Swedish Match Tour. Michale Ivardi is from Team Luna Rossa Challenge.

Kazuto Seki, the bronze medalist of Athens Olympic Games 470 class joins the Nippon Cup with the recommendation from JASF. Nippon Match Race ranking #1, Takumi Nakamura is a young and most promising sailor in Japan. Yasutaka Funazawa, Nippon Match Race ranking #2, makes his third challenge to the Nippon Cup. The three Japanese contestants are to fight against the world top ranking sailors.

Nippon Cup starts with Round Robin and the top four team proceeds to Semi-Finals and Finals to decide the ranking.

The battle starts at 9:30 a.m. on November 17, with the blow of the fog horn. Don't miss it!!
